I am an educator, researcher, storyteller, facilitator, and organizer in the field of human rights.

I am a partner, parent, and troublemaker living and working in Dayton, Ohio, USA.

Here is my CV.

About Me.

I work at the University of Dayton where I serve as Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Director of Applied Research and Learning at Human Rights Center. I have a B.A. from Rutgers University (‘02) and M.A. (‘06) and Ph.D. (‘11) in International Studies from the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver.

My research examines how international human rights shapes claims and drives movements for justice and dignity in the United States.

At the UD Human Rights Center, I coordinate our action research agenda and steer the Moral Courage Project, an immersive student research and storytelling program I co-founded in 2015.

I organize in my community as co-chair of the Montgomery County Jail Coalition, a grassroots formation that advocates for alternatives to incarceration and humane treatment of detainees.

My greatest honor is to be Heather’s partner and my most profound contribution to humanity is to be Wyatt and Daisy’s dad.
